Easter

We spent Easter weekend in McCook this year. Kris rarely gets a holiday weekend off and when he does we try to spend it with family. After finding out we will be moving in the next year (sooner or later) we are going to spend every chance we get with our families making the best of memories. The kids and I did not have school on Good Friday, but Kris had to work till noon which turned out to be 2:00 then we headed out. Friday night was a quiet one and it was spent sitting around talking while the kids ran around and made messes like usual.
Saturday although windy was a beautiful day so we spent a good majority of it outside. The morning started off with my family celebrating my kids' birthdays with singing happy birthday, coffee cake, egg bake, homemade cinnamon rolls, and opening presents. Laiken spent the entire day digging in a large dirt pile in my parents' backyard trying to find worms for Grandpa to use for fishing. The majority of the group played basketball while I sat and soaked in the sun. I love weekends with family and nothing to do, but enjoy each other. The thing I love the most is we all get along so well and always have fun. Saturday night we watched a movie and then I went to bed while my brother, his girlfriend, Kris, and my sister went "country cruising." I was afraid they would not be able to wake up for 9 o'clock mass the next day, but I was proved wrong.
On Easter morning my kids could hardly stand it to wait for me to get my camera before they ran up the stairs to see what the Easter bunny had brought them. After they went through their baskets, they got their coats and shoes on, and were ready to head out the door. Kris gave me a bad time because the Easter Bunny did not buy much candy this year instead it was bubbles, gum, granola bars, and fruit snacks...WHICH THEY LOVED!!! Candy at our house sits on top of the fridge and gets tossed out months later because nobody remembers it is there. My kids are really good about choosing string cheese, yogurt, fruit snacks, fruit or granola bars for their snack over candy. After their Easter egg hunt we got ready for church to make it to 9 o'clock mass. I love going to church in my home town and seeing families that have changed and grown so much as well as friends from the past, it warms my heart. Of course the kids had to hit up the Easter egg hunt in the yard of the church after mass and then we headed to my parents' to change. The rest of the day was spent with my mom's side of the family...there were around 40 people all together. All my cousins were there with their families except two which is a great turn out. My kids got to run around and play with their cousins they rarely see and we got to meet Angela. Angela is the 4 year old little girl my cousin Jody and her husband Kyle adopted from the Ukraine. My children fell in love with her and were amazed by her differences from them which they didn't shy away from. I tried to spend as much time as possible getting to know Angela and it saddens me that we don't live closer to Kearney so we could build a bond.
Here are some pictures from Easter weekend...
