On Friday we packed up the truck hooked on the camper and headed to Harry Strunk Lake near Cambridge, NE. We met my parents, grandparents, youngest sister and cousin there for a weekend of camping. When I original planned this camping trip I was not think that the end of June would be so hot and miserable, but I knew if we didn't go then we wouldn't have another opportunity this summer to do so. I arrived there around 7:30 central time, just in time for some dinner with the family. Unfortunately, with the weather being so hot and dry nobody was allowed to have open fires so smores were not on our menu. We stayed up rather late just talking about nothing really, but only to enjoy each other's company. The night was short as of course the birds start chirping quite early and the light begins to shine through the windows.
Saturday we had breakfast as a family then my dad and Kris were off to go fishing while the rest of us went for a swim. We did not see much of Kris and my dad as for fishing was their ultimate goal for the day, but unfortunately for them they did not catch that big one. My kids got to go boar riding which they loved. Laiken's comment to me was, "Mom this is a great day!" I love that my kids share the passion for the outdoors that Kris and I do. Saturday evening was pretty laid back for everyone had too much sun that day and were tired. Sleeping the second night is always much easier to accomplish than the first night. I am sure you are beginning to wonder how in the world a 31 week pregnant woman handled the heat, humidity, and the outdoor survival, but honestly it wasn't that horrible. I made sure to drink plenty of water so of course I was walking to the bathroom several times a hour, I stayed in the shade as much as possible with my feet up, and I spent plenty of time in the lake to cool off.
Yesterday we left in the middle of the afternoon and got home around 7:30. It was a rather long drive home and we did call it a short night to try to catch up on some lost sleep. It was wonderful to sleep in my own comfortable bed in air conditioning that is for sure. It was a great weekend with lots of memories made. We have one more adventure planned for this summer which is my families vacation to Denver in two weeks. The summer has flown by and before we know it school will be starting and a baby will be arriving.
I continue to remind myself that in less than 9 weeks baby Kobza #3 will be making his or her presence into this world. I do feel that this pregnancy has flown by and I am going to miss all those fun movements that baby K makes, but I can't wait to see It's sweet face in person. I did go to the doctor last week before we went camping, everything looks good and is right on track. I am measuring a week ahead which I am hoping that will bring the baby into the world naturally earlier than 40 weeks. We have decided on a girl's name and it is one we all love, but the boy name is still up in the air. For over a week baby K has had the hiccups at least once a day sometimes twice which the doctor says is a really good sign because they baby is practicing breathing and is developing the lungs properly. That makes me jump for joy in hope once again this baby comes before 40 weeks preferably 38 weeks. Also this weekend my colostrum came in so there is another good sign. I have never had my colostrum come in before delivery so it did freak my out a bit, thank goodness my mom and grandma were there to fill me in on what in the world that was and that is was ok to see this early.
Happy 4th of July to all, stay safe, with all these fires around us the thought of crazy people lighting off fireworks scares me. To another crazy week in the Kobza household and the single digit week countdown till we see baby K.
One Step at a Time,
Alisha
